About
Lowell Campen was born in Camas, Washington and was raised on a dairy farm near the entrance to the Columbia River Gorge just east of Washougal. Spending all of his early years on the farm has given Lowell a great love of the outdoors and especially the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Having developed a love of photography in High School, Lowell has continued to learn more about the art of photography over the years. He photographs mostly in Washington and Oregon with an emphasis on the Columbia River Gorge, the only place in the country that is designated as a National Scenic Area. He has driven thousands of miles in the gorge since turning semi-pro in the early 1990’s.
Lowell says he never tires of its beauty and how it changes with the seasons. He goes back to the same locations over and over to see it “new” once again.
In the Spring of 2006 Lowell and his wife, Diane, opened the Gorge Gallery in Stevenson, Washington so that he could display his work along with the work of many other artists. Circumstances dictated that they close their gallery and frame shop in the fall of 2007.
Lowell and Diane live up the Washougal River where they continue to share his photography via the internet. It has been his desire for years to provide his customers with high quality photogaphic products which they can use to enhance their lives. He enjoyes being able to, “Bring the outdoors inside,” and take others to places they cannot go to themselves.
Lowell will soon be opening a new custom frame shop and mini gallery at 241 Laurel Lane, Washougal, WA 98671.
